PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT TOOL EXPECTED TO IMPROVE SERVICE DELIVERY IN COUNCILS

21 August 2018

There are high expectations that revenue collection and service delivery in all councils across the country will be enhanced following the launch of the Local Authority Performance Assessment (Lapa) tool under the LGAP project. The tool which has been developed with financial support from USAID and DFID, seeks to develop evidence-based performance assessment in councils.

Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Kiswell Dakamau, said the tool will also empower communities to identify their need, set performance indicators and targets, thereby holding local councils accountable for their performance in service delivery.

“This tool will ensure that we are doing this in line with government policy in areas such as agriculture, health and education and it will help us in making proper plans to achieve set goals in the council,” he said
