BLANTYRE WATER BOARD STEPS UP TREE PLANTING

Blantyre Water Board (BWB) has stepped up efforts in planting of tree seedlings aimed at restoring the Mudi catchment area with forest cover. Through the volunteer tree planting programme several groups of people and organisations have been supporting BWB on the exercise. On 20th January 2018 three groups namely Institute of Internal Auditors, Go Green Initiative and National Theatre Association of Malawi planted 3000 tree seedlings in the Mudi Catchment area.

A team of 30 people from Nation Publications and Association of Environmental Journalists on Friday 26th January 2018 planted a total of 1000 seedlings and so far a total of 12000 seedlings have been planted under the volunteer tree planting programme.
